I like watching biographical movies, mostly of famous writers and authors. So, curious to see where they get the ideas and the inspiration for the amazing masterpieces they create. So, here below, are few of my all-time favorite movies and one TV series about some of the most talented and inspiring people in literature. Have a nice read… or watch?? Anyways…
The writer J. Matthew Barry does not obey the laws of conservative London and becomes a friend of a lonely widow, and also a foster father to her four young sons. The new family gives him an inspiration: the writer creates a children’s hero Peter Pan and a wonderful fairy tale about children who do not want to grow up…
Z: The Beginning of Everything
Zelda Fitzgerald, the wife of the famous writer Scott Fitzgerald. It would seem that a couple should be happy in marriage, but their life together consists of scandals, which, more often than not, is as the result of unrestrained jealousy. Scott and Zelda often became the main figurants of articles in various media. In addition, there was a break out of a new era, when women, contrary to the Victorian traditions, behaved more freely, allowed themselves personal vehicles, alcohol, and cigars!
The Movie based on real events and the life of the English children’s writer of the late 19th century Beatrix Potter. In an age when most of the young women of her class dreamed only of a profitable marriage, Beatrix went against the customs and traditions of Victorian England, showing free-thinking, which was by no means typical of women of her time.
To Walk Invisible: The Bronte Sisters
Complex relations of the sisters Charlotte, Emily, and Anne with their brother, who in the last three years of his life – after a fatal love affair – started to drink and was carried away by gambling. This period became very difficult for the Bronte family, but it was during these years that the world-famous novels of the sisters were written.
Jane Austen believes in love, and her parents want her to be married according to their will: in 1795, England a young woman had no other choice. However, when the twenty-year-old Jane met a charming young Irishman, Tom, his character intrigued her and caught her attention, and the whole world flew backfire. Can Jane go against the will of the parents and challenge the public foundations?
Midnight in Paris
A writer and hopeless romantic, confident that he had to live in the 1920s, Gil comes to Paris with his beloved fiancé for a vacation. While walking at midnight on the beautiful streets of Paris, he transports to the 1920’s. Meeting there with Hemingway, Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, Gertrude Stein, he realizes that he belongs to this time and wants to stay there forever.
Hope you enjoy them as much as I do! Do you guys know other movies about famous (or not) writers and authors? Let me know!
